Job Description

TEL Staffing is now hiring  Marine Electricians with 3+ years of experience  for the shipyards in the  Pensacola Marina

Job Summary:  The list of duties, tasks, and responsibilities stated below represents the work activities normally performed by most electricians working in a marine setting.
  • Repair or replace wiring equipment or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools
  • Examine electrical system of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, like ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to confirm compatibility and safety of system
  • Use different types of tools or equipment, like power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, like oscilloscopes, ammeters, or check lamps
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or rigging to put in, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures
  • Diagnose faulty systems, apparatus, or parts, using equipment and hand tools to find the reason for a breakdown and correct the problem
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or parts to spot hazards, defects, or the necessity for adjustment or repair, and to confirm compliance with codes
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to see the placement of wiring or equipment, and to confirm correspondence to assembling and safety codes
  • Place passage pipes, or tubing, within selected partitions, walls, or alternative hidden areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the passage to finish circuits between boxes
  • Perform physically difficult tasks, like excavation trenches to put passage or moving or lifting serious metal objects
  • Work on the installation of ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, like motors
  • Construct and fabricate elements, using hand tools and specifications
  • Provide help in times of emergencies by operating floodlights or generators, inserting flares, or driving required vehicles
  • Work on installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of marine electrical (AC/DC) and electronic systems for new vessels and conversions
  • Troubleshoot issues for purchasers, give recommendations for drawback resolution; give estimates to client for repair, replacement, and installation per drawback designation and repair/replacement recommendation
  • Communicate with manufacturers if possible on technical equipment
  • Perform routine and annual maintenance of Facility electrical systems.
  • General knowledge of stick welding
 
Hours:

Typical working hours are 40 hours per week

Work that exceeds 40 hours is considered overtime

A 10-minute paid morning break is taken daily

A 30-minute unpaid lunch break is provided 

 
Physical Demands:

Standing and walking is required on a frequent basis. Bending, squatting, pulling/pushing, reaching, and handling are also required on a frequent basis. Hand control and fine motor skills are required on a continuous basis. Work may be preformed in cramped or confined spaces, which may require the use of a  respirator. Lifting, carrying, and pulling objects requiring 30 to 40 pounds of force is required on an occasional basis. Lifting, carrying and pulling on objects that range from 0 to 29 pounds occurs on a frequent basis.

 
Transportation:
It is the responsibility of each individual to provide or arrange his or her own transportation to and from the shipyard. 
  
All Workers Are Required To Wear Safety Equipment Including:  Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Ear Plugs, Safety Toed Shoes, Occasionally Respirators, And Fall Protection
  
Standard Practice For This Company:

  Employees are often required to preform other jobs beyond the essential functions of their primary  job .  These jobs could consist of, but are not be limited to, assisting other employees in the cleaning and picking up of debris from other areas were work is preformed, partnering with employees to complete work with more stringent deadlines. Filling in temporarily for an absent employee. Participation in a work area clean-up daily and a full Facility clean-up on Fridays which includes sweeping, trash & scrap removal, tool & equipment turn-in to the tool room and general housekeeping.

REQUIRED Tool List:  

These basic tools MUST be provided by the Employee :

  • Hand Tools (wrenches, knife, etc.)
  • Insulated screw drivers                                                           
  • Testing equipment
  • Tape measure – 25’ minimum

Schedule: Full-Time (Monday - Friday -- Days) 

Pay: Starts at: $25/hr. --- $35/hr.  ( Depending on Experience)
